How did you find us?: I’ve played here a couple times before.
IC:Character name: Shiranui
Fandom: Okami(den)
Timeline: Post-Orochi battle, pre-”death”
Age: Immortal; in his human form, he appears to be in his twenties.
~*Magical*~ abilities and strengths: HE HAS SO MANY. Shiranui is able to use the
Celestial Brush Techniques the same way that Amaterasu is able to. However, unlike her, his power over them is far stronger. He is able to use them at amazing speed and when used, the color of ink he draws with is gold.
He also knows how to fight hand-to-hand, is quite nimble on his feet, and has one hell of a nasty bite.
How would they use their abilities?: They see me trollin', they hatin' For the good of the people on the ship, of course!
For the most part, at least. Since he's a benevolent god, if anyone is in need of help then he'll be more than willing to use the brush techniques for good.
He'll also be more than happy to use Galestorm to make it a little windy and get a nice peek at some girl's panties.
Appearance: In both his wolf and human form, Shiranui's body is covered by
red markings; they are a sign of his godhood - something that only those who are spiritually adept can see. (re: other gods, demons, those who are religious [whether overtly so or believe in
some god/higher power.) Also, his weapon (Solar Flare) goes hand in hand with his godhood markings: it falls under the trope of Invisible to Normals.
As
a wolf, Shiranui is a bit bigger than a normal wolf would be and his coat is a sleek, optic white. He has has tufts of hair that come from his shoulders, hind quarters, and bottom area of his paws that slightly resemble wings or feathers of some kind - his tail also seems to follow the pattern that these tufts do.
However, the wolf form is a secondary appearance for him. Shiranui's main appearance is that of
a human. (He just enjoys taking on various other forms, since it makes interacting with others a bit...easier? Kind of.
Maybe he just likes screwing with them who knows.) But as a human, he stands around 6', has a tanned, muscular frame, brown eyes, and long silver-white hair that he usually pulls some of back into a swirly looking ponytail.
Background/Personality: Okami |

Shiranui"This wolf, its coat as brilliant as snow, was dubbed Shiranui. The wolf kept a watchful eye on anyone who ventured outside the village, and made a habit of patrolling the streets at night."
— Narrator
One hundred years ago, before the intro to Okami even began, a great battle raged between the hero of Kamiki, Nagi, and the great, eight-headed serpent known as Orochi. A white wolf, who had been dubbed by the townsfolk of Kamiki, known as Shiranui aided Nagi within his battle. However, despite the victory, the fight had gone on for too long and Shiranui's body was mortally wounded (poisoned by Orochi's claws). But before that final blow was to be struck, Shiranui summoned the moon with a mighty howl. This allowed Nagi to both defeat and seal Orochi.
Despite being a god, these wounds still marked a "death" for Shiranui; he would lose his corporeal form and his spirit would come to linger within the statue that the villagers of Kamiki would erect in his honor. After all, the wolf was a brave fellow and a hero to the village.
It would take one hundred years for evil to come to reign again; the seal on the Moon Cave would be be broken and the sleeping spirit within the statue would be awoken by a tree sprite of the full-grown Konohana. Amaterasu would take part in this battle, return back to her own time, and Shiranui (still wounded from the fight with Orochi) would then aid both her and Oki in the battle against the twin demons Nechku and Lechku.
However, Shiranui's story does not begin there. It merely ends, as the god's next incarnation (Amaterasu) would begin her own story once her spirit was awoken.
Despite Okami making it a point to show that Shiranui and Amaterasu were basically one in the same (Ishaku, the previous Celestial Envoy, calls Amaterasu "Ammy", the same nickname that Issun calls her), Okamiden decides that it wanted to go on ahead and retcon that. When Chibiterasu traverses the Moon Cave and comes upon Shiranui, who had been trapped in ice, the little god goes ahead and releases Shiranui from his confinement.
This is where things get a bit...interesting.
Shiranui seemed to have recognized Chibiterasu; Ishaku calls Shiranui by male pronouns and is surprised when Shiranui states that
Chibiterasu is his grandson.
But, once all is said and done and things come up to speed (re: Shiranui's "death"), the game seems to throw out a curve ball. Mr. Fruit, upon Shiranui's passing, goes on ahead to state that the wolf was the
great god Amaterasu. Whether or not Capcom meant for this to happen is a bit confusing; but it might go so far as to say that Shiranui is his own entity (as he is called by male pronouns and is referred to as a
god instead of goddess).
However, whatever the exact reason it may be, the game seems to go out of its way to show that Shiranui and the present-day Amaterasu are their own
wolf person. Even if Shiranui was truly known as Amaterasu, Shiranui was the name that was given to him upon the people of Kamiki, as they had thought that he was a familiar of Orochi's. After all, what were they supposed to believe when there was a big, white wolf roaming the streets at night?
Shiranui had been doing this for many,
many years prior to Nagi's birth as well. Though he was a bit more discreet about it; he probably just took to
watching the little town from afar instead of actually on the inside. He only once started his walking of the city once Nagi was actually born. It was his way of making sure that the villagers were safe.
After all, Shiranui was the God of the Sun and a rather benevolent god at that. The people of Japan (Nippon, in the game) were his children (and, subsequently, Amaterasu's) and he would do anything to keep them safe. Orochi's fall to the mortal realm meant that he would have to keep a close on the people of Nippon as he awaited the birth of Nagi (of which Waka had gone so far as to prophesizes - something that he canonly states at the end of the first game to Amaterasu). Orochi was only an added annoyance to the demons who roamed the lands of Nippon; a little dent that took maidens as sacrifices and gobbled them up happily as Shiranui could only sit on the side
and wait.
The years Shiranui spent on Nippon waiting for Nagi to be born and grow into a man ready to battle Orochi hardened the god a bit. While he was still his playful and benevolent self, caring for others (as well as the other brush gods), Shiranui also became serious and far more determined than he ever possibly had been; being so close to those that he had loved from so far and
knowing that there was nothing he could do just set his mood to roughen up. But he does his best to keep from becoming a gigantic, dull grump.
He's graceful where battle comes into play - able to outrun and use his swiftness to escape if need be (like those times whenever Nagi would attempt to challenge him). But that grace does not seem to flow through his rough way of speaking.
Unlike the Amaterasu who would come to reign after him, his way of talking is full of contractions and the occasional shortening of words (if possible, at least - he at least knows
when to keep a word a word). He nicknames his friends and family, showering them with all sorts of affection in his own way. And...well, he can't really stop himself from showing appreciation towards a nice set of melons or a pretty lady.
Maybe even a pretty man - I'm sure Waka got stared at a lot. It's just something that runs in the family. Why should that character be in this game: For OCs only.
Why do you want to continue their history here: For characters from other games only.
For applicants considering an alternate version of a character already in game, please use this as your chance to explain the key differences between your character and the one already in play: Have you read up on how the game works?: Yes~ The device that is used aboard the ship is known as the Flaming Ferret. Shiranui is able to get a job via missions, to make money, or he can be a Cool Kid by mooching off of people.
And hard work mooching is what he does best.1st person sample: [WELL GOOD DAY, S.S. THOR
today on your guides you all have the feed of a rather tired looking man. his white hair is a rumpled mess and there's dried blood in both that messy mane of his, various areas of face, neck, and chest. who needs a top part - PANTS ARE GOOD ENOUGH.]Hah, bet that silly prophet'd be delighted to see somethin' like this.
[he's grinning a little, despite what soreness he feels (and how gross he looks).]Don't think he's here, though.
Can't really make much heads or tails of any of this in the first place. Ya'd think they woulda just been happy with a paw print but no. Make the bleedin' old man fill out all of that and -[sorry - he's gonna ramble to himself a bit. looking off camera before:]Oi.
[yes, he's talking to all of you.] Anyone got a bath I can borrow?
3rd person sample: Nagi's touch, to the god, felt gentle and warm. Palm flat against dirty, blood-caked fur, and fingers splayed - slipping and rubbing along the expanse of muscle. He could vaguely hear Ishaku's voice; the sensation of the little envoy hopping along his side, up the length of his body, was dulled by now.
A flesh wound meant nothing, because he was a god? Maybe - but all his energy had been spent on that final attack. A leap of faith. One to keep Kamiki from being destroyed by a ghastly meteor from Akuro.
It hurt to breath. Every ragged inhale was only followed by a guttural exhale.
And as he lay there, vision fading - blurring closer and closer to darkness -, the last thing Shiranui recalled is the fading form of his grandson walking off. Away to the entrance. (To continue his journey? To rid of the evil that posed harm to the land?)
And Ishaku trailed behind.
